We are pleased to announce the availability of the first
iPhone App for advanced design of rod pumping systems.
The XROD-V Norris Rods is a special free version of the
powerful XROD-V software from Theta Oilfield Services
Inc. XROD-V is the first rod pumping system design software
to use Artificial Intelligence to allow you to design
complete rod pumping systems in seconds. The full version
of XROD-V allows you to design rod pumping systems for
up to eight different pumping unit types simultaneously.
It can automatically design steel only rod strings, or
combinations steel-Fiberglass rod strings. It also designs
sinker bars automatically. It has two modes: AI and Non-AI.
In AI mode, the program does the system designs automatically
for each pumping unit type you selected using Artificial
Intelligence. XROD also scores the system design with
both a letter grade and a numeric grade (A+, 100). In
non-AI mode, you can either modify the designs XROD-V
comes up with, or enter your own designs to see the resulting
score and advice from XROD on how to improve your score.

The XROD-V Norris Rods, iPhone
App, works only in AI mode and for one pumping unit type
at a time. Furthermore, it only recommends Norris sucker
rods and works for Lufkin pumping units only. To use this
iPhone app, you must first go to www.Norrisrods.com and
create a user account for XROD-V. Then, you can download
the iPhone App. Specifically, the steps required to successfully
download and use the XROD-V Norris Rods App are listed
below. We assume you have an iPhone with the latest iPhone
operating system and are using iTunes on your computer.
Instructions
Go to www.Norrisrods.com and click on the XROD-V
System Design link to sign up for a user account by
clicking on the “Not Registered?” link
Once you create a user name and password, launch
iTunes
Click on “iTunes Store”
In the search field of the iTunes Store type “XROD”
and then press Enter
When you see the XROD-V app, click on it to download
it. This is a free App
After you download the App, connect your iPhone
to your computer to sync it in iTunes. This should
take place automatically.
After your iPhone is synchronized and the XROD-V
app is installed, disconnect the iPhone and launch
the App
Before being able to design a rod pumping system,
access the settings screen (push the “Settings” button
on the app) and enter the user name and password from
Step 1 and push on the “Save” button
Push the “XROD-V” button to start using the App
Select the pumping unit type, enter the pump depth
and your target production, and push the “Run” button.
The results of the run will appear in a few seconds.
To delete the inputs and start a new run, push the
“Reset” button and then repeat step 10 above.
