Slip Sockets

The Slip Sockets Type B, Baby Red, Big Boy, and Horn Employ slips with hardened wickers or teeth, which bite or dig into the softer rod or T-coupling being fished.

Type B Socket
The O’bannon Type B Socket is the reliable, economical answer to fishing jobs involving rod body breaks, pin shoulders or threads, boxes, non-hardened couplings and polished rods. The catch is gripped by spring-loaded, wickered (toothed) slips. Simple rod body breaks are engaged in the upper slips, which work in the inner bowl (F); other catches are made by similar slips positioned at the lower end of the outer bowl (B). All slips are heat treated, quenched and tempered to assure positive bite and long service life.

The 2 ½” oversize sockets, this particular Type B is a special purpose tool and should be used with extra care; responsibility for failure must be assumed by the operator.
